1 Dear All, I don’t think that the letter has any particular effect on the participation of the Snipe Class at the Pan American Games 2007.

2 Apart of a “bababla” to justify the position of Brazilian Olympic Committee that is deeply involved on the organization of the Pan Am Games 2007, what is being appointed is that Pan American Sports as “karate, bowling, squash, water ski, racketball and pelota basca (basque ball ?)” cannot be included based on: a) technical reasons; b) sponsors, media and public lack of interest; c) additional costs.

3 Sailing is both an Olympic and Pan American sport and PASAF already nominated the Classes that will be participating, inclusive Snipe Class, and I see no reason whatsoever for ODEPA to refuse PASAF’s recommendation. We have to have in mind that Brazil is the present Pan American Gold Medalist in the Snipe and for political reasons our authorities must have a deep interest in supporting the Class participation. The contrary is true regarding “karate, bowling etc…” sports that indeed have very little or non existence participation in Brazil.
